The Yummiest Paleo Shepherd’s Pie

  • 1/2 lbs Ground Beef
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/4 cup Onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Carrots, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup Frozen Peas
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 1/4 cup Beef Broth
  • 1 Egg, beaten


  • 1 tsp Curry Powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Paprika powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cumin
  • Salt, as desired
  • Ground Black Pepper, as desired

For Mashed Cauliflower

  • 1 Medium sized Cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 3 tbsp butter, soften
  • 1/3 cup Cream Cheese
  • Salt, as desired
  • Ground Black Pepper, as desired


  1. Steam cauliflower florets until tender for 7 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. Add olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add carrots and onion. Cook until onion is fragrant and carrots begin to soften.
  3. Stir in peas and ground beef. Brown ground beef for about 5 minutes, then add all the seasonings, tomato paste, and beef broth. Simmer for 10 minutes. Then remove from heat.
  4. Meanwhile, chopped cauliflower until it reaches a crumb-like texture. Set aside.
  5. Add cream cheese and butter in a medium-size bowl, mix with a hand mixer until well incorporated, then add in chopped cauliflower. Continue mixing for 15 seconds or until the mixture just blended, set aside.
  6. Preheat oven to ‘broil’ on ‘high’.
  7. Add beef mixture to a 6”x 8” casserole dish, spread evenly. Top with cauliflower mash spread evenly. Brush lightly with beaten egg. Broil for 3 minutes or until the top slightly browned.
