Meat Crisps (Keto Approved)

Please share:

Crunchy, low-carb, Keto approved meat crisps that not only taste amazing but are also VERY easy to make. Let’s dig in to find out how to get a chip-like crunch when preparing these meat crisps.

Meat Chips Ready To Dehydrate

Keto Crunch

If you’re eating low carb and miss the crunch of a potato chip, this meat crisp recipe will absolutely deliver.

The first thing you’re going to need to do is decide on what type of meat you want to turn into a chip. The best options for this would be:

Pepperoni, Salami, or other Cured Meat Slices

Pick any cured meat and you’re almost done! Seriously. There are no more ingredients needed. Cured meat slices (the thiner the best) are all you need.

Dehydrating Cured Meat

On vented dehydrator trays, lay meat slices in a single layer. They can be very close to one another but not overlapping.

NEXT: Place trays in dehydrator and set to 155°F. Turn on and let run until meat is crispy and crunchy with no (or very minimal) chew to it. Time can vary, this can take up to 10-12 hours depending on the efficiency of your dehydrator. They will still have some oil on them, this is normal because of the fat content of the cured meats.

Storing Meat Chips

Store in a tightly sealed container or bag in the fridge for up to a month.

While they’re all good, our current favorite is pepperoni.

Pepperoni Meat Crisps

Why are Meat Crisps a Good Option on Keto?

Find a high quality and sugar free cured meat – these meats will be high in fat and protein. Even if there’s sugar listed in the ingredients, it may actually be very low (and not impact ketone production).

To know if you’re getting a “Keto safe” meat – check the carb count per serving. If it’s 5 net carbs or lower, you’ll be just fine.

The reason meat crisps are a good option on a Ketogenic diet is the high content of fat and protein per serving. Fat should always be used as an energy lever on a low carb diet.
