Simple Alfredo Sauce

What is this low-carb Alfredo sauce good with?

Great as a high fat and low carb dip for air fried chicken tenders, Keto crackers, our Chicken & Onions recipe, and our ground beef Alfredo.

What is Alfredo Sauce

Alfredo is a cream sauce which is made with butter, parmesan cheese, and an array of spices. When you buy Alfredo in a jar at the store, it’s most likely going to have thickeners which are high in carbs and low in micronutrient value.

They also tend to cut corners to reduce cost by using seed oils and other ingredients that you don’t want to consume on a regular basis. Homemade is the best. Fresh, you know what you’re getting, and made exactly the way you like it.

Ingredients Needed

When making delicious homemade Alfredo you get to be as picky as you want when it comes to what you put in or leave out. This Alfredo recipe calls for:

  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 1 clove Garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 1/8 tsp Ground White Pepper (see notes)
  • 3/4 cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese (not shelf stable)

How to Make Keto Alfredo Sauce

Smooth Alfredo

Getting Started

Melt the butter in a skillet over medium-low heat.

Once melted, add the heavy cream, garlic, salt, and pepper. Whisk together to combine ingredients. Let it simmer and come to a low boil until slightly thickened, whisking occasionally.

Add in Parm

Remove from heat and add parmesan cheese in 3 batches, whisking in between each addition. Return to low heat and let cook for another couple of minutes, whisking constantly until cheese is completely melted.

Alternate/additional Steps

If your sauce isn’t entirely smooth, you can pour it into a glass jar and blend it with an immersion blender, but that’s entirely optional.

Reheat Later

To reheat, microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until desired temp is reached. The sauce may separate. Stir well.
